We have an exciting role for a Financial Accountant to be based in the South East suburbs of Melbourne.
Summary of Role
The Financial Accountant is responsible for:
- Providing strong financial management and compliance to statutory, tax, and management financial reporting and providing assistance in the development and implementation of corporate strategies, policies, and projects.
- Assisting the Financial Controller EU & NA to manage accounting duties as required.

Specific Responsibilities
Co-ordinates and prepares the month-end, half and year-end processes including:
- Profit & Loss & Balance Sheet
- Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Preparation of monthly Board Reports
Implementation of management reports:
- Prepares monthly management reports to budget and prior year and prepares variance analysis for all profit and cost centres
- Discusses and consults with Sales Managers regarding Departmental Expenses Variance analysis to budget and prior year
- Provides and analyses financial and non-financial information to assist managers to monitor performance
- Maintains the general ledger to ensure that it accurately reflects the financial performance and financial position of the company
Assist in Budgets Preparation:
- Assists in the annual budgeting process
- Assists with the preparation of the annual budget and budget review process
Manages Payroll Function:
- Manages and coordinates the payroll
- Reconciles employee leave requests for payroll purposes
- Calculates and processes Independent Representatives commissions
- Manages company health benefits scheme
Oversees USA Inventory & Stocktakes
- Coordinates quarterly stocktakes
- Investigates/processes stocktake variances
- Manages stock locations to monitor obsolete/ expired and product shelf life
Manages Financial Responsibilities:
- Assists with audits and other compliance requirements
- Develops and implements Company policies and procedures for accounting and tax issues
- Manages the fixed asset register and equipment finance/leasing arrangements
- Manages the Aged Debtors, prepares and distributes debtors reports and working with Sales Managers to maintain minimum overdue debtors
- Oversees all Accounts Payable functions
- Monitors company cashflow to ensure funds available to pay suppliers, payroll, taxes, intercompany creditors
- Assists in other finance and administration activities as requested by the Financial Controller EU & NA

Job Environment
- The position is located at Bayswater, Victoria
- Working hours: 38-hour week paid monthly
- Additional hours required on an as needed basis to ensure important reporting deadlines are met
Essential Qualification/ Experience
- 5 years’ experience in management/financial accounting
- Managing a small Finance team/department
- Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting/Finance) or equivalent
- Proficient with computer software accounting packages, including Microsoft Office (in particular Excel), SAP (or similar ERP system)
