Located in Warabrook, the Financial Accountant is responsible for preparation of monthly financial reports covering balance sheet, profit and loss, cashflow, AR and AP as well as management of the general ledger including overseeing the monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining related systems.
This position is offered on a temporary basis to cover for a period of leave til October 2024. The position is advertised for full-time hours, however flexibility in hours can be considered for the appropriate candidate. The Financial Accountant also leads a small team comprising of Finance Officers, Assistant Accountant as well as the Payroll team.
DUTIES
- Prepare financial statements in an accurate & timely manner to meet monthly and annual reporting timelines.
- Oversee the completion of the month-end and year-end processes within established timeframes and internal policies.
- Oversee the completion and review of all monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Oversee accounts payable and ensure all creditors are paid within agreed terms and internal policies.
- Oversee accounts receivable and facilitate the collection of all receivables in accordance with internal policies.
- Complete and/or supervise invoice preparation or overview of invoicing processes.
- Prepare Business Activity Statements.
- Prepare and maintain workers compensation insurance annual returns, payment schedules, and wage estimates.
- Supervise the Payroll Coordinator and ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll.
- Responsible for the coordination and completion of any contractual audits and the year-end statutory audit.
- Degree or equivalent in commerce or accounting and a minimum of 5 years related experience.
- Solid working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
- Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or other tier 1 or 2 ERP system.
- Confident in working closely with relevant stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and work autonomously with limited guidance.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience developing complex models. Competence and experience in other Microsoft Office Products including Word and Outlook.
- Competence supervising the payroll function and have working knowledge of a Payroll System.
- Member of professional accounting body (CPA or CA).
- Financial accounting experience
