About the Role

This is a cross functional commercial role based in the corporate office in Brisbane with regular travel to Jellinbah Mine, near Blackwater in Central Queensland. This role works intimately with both the Finance Department and Jellinbah Site management and will generate and analyse commercial information that supports:

            -  operational decision making by the mine site managers; and

            -  performance reporting and forecasting for the Group Executive, Board and Joint Ventures. 

Your role will be interesting and varied and will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating the work between the Finance Department and the Jellinbah Mine Senior Leadership Team (SLT) for the provision of timely information / metrics / analysis that informs commercially based decision making and business improvement by Site management. 
  • Understanding and communicating the information / metrics that best support the Site leadership team.
  • Working with Finance, Site leadership team and IT stakeholders to generate and maintain reporting tools that best convey financial and commercial information / metrics and to continually improve the accuracy, utility and timeliness of the reporting tools. 
  • Providing commercial analysis of the operational / financial outcomes and convey the analysis to Site and Corporate leadership teams as part of a regular feedback routine, including analysis of variations to plans, in order to optimise site efficiency and support leaders in decision making.
  • Coordinating the site monthly operational and capital reforecasting process, for input into the monthly forecasting for the Group Executive, Board and Joint Ventures.
  • Supporting the Site leadership team with developing CAPEX and OPEX business cases. 
  • Supporting both Site and Corporate stakeholders to annually develop costed 5 year operating and capital plans and 12 month operating and capital Budgets including relevant analysis and presentations.
  • Assisting the Accounting team with producing financial commentaries that are used in monthly and quarterly reporting packs for the Board and Joint Ventures.
  • Assisting the Site leadership team with the development of financial modelling and business cases for site projects and procurement. 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience in the mining industry
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and ideally hold a CA/CPA qualification
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships within teams and both internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Drive and energy to coach and motivate key stakeholders
  • Ability to grow and adapt to the changing needs of the organisation
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel regularly to Jellinbah Mine to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
