Job Title: Financial Controller

Job Purpose:
We are seeking a highly experienced, ambitious and motivated Financial Controller to oversee all financial operations of our organisation. The ideal candidate will oversee financial operations, including financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, tax compliance, risk management, and internal control as well as undertake general book-keeping activities. They will work closely with senior management to ensure financial goals and objectives are met. This position will allow the successful candidate to have the opportunity to grow into a Chief Financial Officer position within the organisation.
Success in this role would look like:
• Leading budgeting, financial tracking, reporting, and variance analysis to maintain fiscal prudence.
• Analysing the profitability of projects, sites, and clients, ensuring that financial reports drive strategic decision-making.
• Undertaking prompt and accurate book-keeping activities, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, manual journals.
• Preparing financial statements for management and board.
• Identifying opportunities for cost savings and enforce cost control measures for optimal financial efficiency.
• Taking charge of cash flow management and provide accurate financial forecasts to support operational needs.
• Leading accounts payable and receivable processes, leveraging the support of a capable team.
• Ensuring full compliance with Australian tax regulations, including the meticulous preparation and lodgement of BAS.
• Leading the coordination of annual financial statement preparation in alignment with applicable accounting standards.
• Playing a pivotal role in crafting the company's financial strategies and contributing to long-term financial planning.
• Cultivating relationships with local financial institutions to arrange debt facilities (if required).
• Developing, revising, and maintaining financial policies and procedures to ensure both compliance and operational efficiency.
• Collaborating on financial aspects of medium and large tender bids, working alongside the business development team.
• Providing financial insights for project budgeting, P&L analysis, and approvals.
• Conducting pricing reviews to enhance profitability, ensuring a competitive advantage in the market.
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• A CPA or CA qualification is highly preferred.
Knowledge and skills:
• Experience working in a start-up environment/fast-paced or scaling-up environment
• Proactive in dealing with challenges and able to work independently
• Proven knowledge in using the Xero Accounting System
• Knowledge in using Employment Hero Payroll system is highly desired but not required
• Substantial experience in financial management, with a strong understanding of Australian financial regulations and compliance.
• A background in the ideal industries of manufacturing, IT hardware and services, or recycling is highly advantageous.
• Proficiency in financial software, analysis, and reporting tools.
• Proven ability to develop and implement financial strategies to support business objectives.
• Proven track record in managing financial risks and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
