As part of this role you will be…
- Undertaking financial counselling casework adhering to the Financial Counselling Australia (FCA) Minimum Practice Standards and The Australian Financial Counselling Code of Ethical Practice. Your expertise will be the cornerstone of guiding individuals towards financial resilience.
- Providing emergency relief and advocacy services to City residents, offering a lifeline to those in immediate need.
- Taking the helm in administering the Melville Citizens Relief Fund by engaging with the Melville Citizens Relief Fund committee, playing a key role in its development, and ensuring the fund's resources are utilised effectively.
- Developing, documenting, and updating procedures as required, contributing to the seamless operation of financial counselling services.
- Facilitating engaging community workshops and develop informative materials tailored to the evolving needs of our clients.
- Providing insightful reports, both internally and to the Melville Citizens Relief Fund, demonstrating the impact of your efforts on our community's financial well-being.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Essential - Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling).
- Essential - Eligible for membership of the Financial Counsellors Association WA.
- Essential - Current National Police Clearance.
- Essential - Demonstrated experience in financial counselling and emergency relief.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting financial information and contracts.
- Experience in working successfully with people from Aboriginal and CALD background.
- Assessment, negotiation skills and advocacy skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritise workloads and maintain flexibility to introduce changes as necessary.
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate file records.
- Knowledge of financial counselling standards and code of professional conduct.
- Demonstrated knowledge of key legislation that is relevant to the financial counselling sector, e.g., Consumer Credit Code, bankruptcy legislation, legal debt.
- Desirable - Experience in facilitating workshops.
