Your Opportunity
We have a newly shaped vacancy for a Financial Planning & Treasury Manager in our Finance Group.
Reporting to the Head of Sustainable Value, this role leads development of Urban Utilities’ financial strategy to ensure sustainable financial outcomes for the organisation and our customers.
This role leads Financial Planning, shaping Urban Utilities’ financial strategy and direction with consideration to balancing delivery of Customer, Shareholder and organisational outcomes in the medium to longer term.
This role also manages Urban Utilities’ treasury function to oversee appropriate capital structures and financing for Urban Utilities both in the short-term and longer-term, within relevant approved compliance and legislation.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead and develop strategic analysis to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of Urban Utilities, bringing together the complex interfaces across financial, regulatory and tax settings. Develop financial strategies that deliver organisational financial sustainability and customer affordability objectives.
- Drive the strategic Financial Planning process, with a core focus on setting and proposing solutions to solve to financial budgetary constraints to deliver organisational objectives to our shareholders, communities and customers.
- Manage the Treasury function, including cashflow optimisation and management whilst ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and maintain and applying critical Urban Utilities treasury policies.
- Ensure the optimal debt funding of Urban Utilities operations, with considerations of appropriate capital structure and financing requirements that meet shareholder and organisational objectives.
- Lead and empower a team of Financial Planning and Treasury analysts to deliver the objectives above
About You:
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
- A tertiary level qualification in finance, business or economics, or equivalent. (Post graduate qualifications and CPA / CA accreditation desirable).
- A human-centric people leader who creates an inclusive and high-performing environment that empowers team members to deliver on critical outcomes aligned to our strategy.
- A background in corporate finance with expertise in engaging with key stakeholders including shareholders, independent economic regulators, and government bodies including QCA and Queensland Treasury.
- Experience overseeing treasury function including cash management activities for an organisation with a significant asset base operating in a highly regulated environment.
- A background in regulated utilities is highly regarded, along with a strong knowledge of the interfaces between financial settings, regulatory settings and taxation settings in an organisation like Urban Utilities.
