Financial Reporting AnalystOutsourced CFO
Are you a qualified finance professional that would like to gain commercial experience as a Financial Reporting Analyst with a pathway to develop into a Financial Controller? If so, then Nexia Perth has the perfect opportunity for you.
The Nexia Perth Outsourced CFO team specialise in providing financial and company secretarial support services to ASX listed companies, SMEs and not-for-profit organisations. We take a holistic approach to our client’s financial needs. We provide them with accurate and reliable information to run their businesses and make informed financial decisions.

The Opportunity
We have a unique opportunity for accounting professionals that can look beyond the numbers and become an integral part of our clients’ businesses.
We offer our clients more than normal tax and advisory services. We are fully integrated with our clients and work in teams to ensure that our clients have the Financial Reporting support needed so that they can focus on running their businesses. We offer the flexibility and development opportunities usually associated with a professional accounting firm, but with the development pathway to become the financial controller for small to medium sized organisations. Our clients include listed companies, SMEs and not-for-profit organisations which means that you will get experience across all these sectors.
The role is more than just preparing financial reports - you will work proactively with your clients to assist them with providing Financial Reporting & analysis, managing their tax compliance obligations, preparing and monitoring budgets & forecasts, cash flow management and implementing financial controls. However, we are not looking for a traditional accounting mindset, but someone that is open to new ideas, innovation and ways of looking for solutions.
To take advantage of this opportunity, we are looking for individuals that have an auditing or Financial Reporting background with a keen eye for detail, who understand key business drivers and can identify relationships or trends within financial information.

Responsibilities
Our responsibility to clients can be divided into four main elements and you will play an important part in delivering these to clients.
The foundation of all financial information is the general ledger and we assist our clients to ensure that the information in the general ledger is accurate and reliable. You will help clients by:

  • Assisting with the design and implementation of appropriate controls to ensure that transactions and reconciliations are accurate and complete;
  • Reviewing the financial information processed and reconciliations prepared for accuracy;
  • Reviewing period end (month, quarter, half year and annual) accounting journals; and
  • Reviewing work performed by team members and providing guidance and training where required.
Preparing management reports is unique to each of our clients. We design bespoke financial reports for each of our clients using various reporting tools. You will be responsible for:
  • Reviewing financial information prepared by team members;
  • Preparing variance analysis, monitoring of KPI’s, identification of trends, etc.;
  • Preparing and presenting financial information to management and/or boards; and
  • Preparing statutory financial reports including half year and full year financial reports and quarterly cash flow reports.
We help our clients identify and manage future risks and opportunities. You will help clients by:
  • Preparing budgets and forecasts that identify potential financial threats or cashflow pressures; and
  • Updating clients with regulatory and legislative changes like changes in tax law or changes in accounting standards.
Lastly, you will help clients to manage their compliance obligations, including:
  • Annual reporting and audit process; and
  • ASX, ASIC, ATO, ORIC or ACNC obligations.
About You

To be considered for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills, attributes and experience:

  • Professionalism, dependability, integrity and trustworthiness combined with a collaborative attitude;
  • Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
  • Highly engaged self-starter with an ability to multitask and manage their time effectively to complete assignments to meet deadlines;
  • Relevant degree, plus CA or CPA qualified or working toward a professional qualification;
  • 3+ years of relevant post graduate experience; and
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of general accounting principles and Australian Accounting Standards.
