As a Fire Tester, you will play a crucial role in our mission to uphold safety standards and regulatory compliance for fire protection systems. You will conduct thorough inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire safety equipment and systems in accordance with relevant Australian standards and regulations. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring the highest level of safety for our clients and their properties.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine testing and inspections of fire detection and suppression systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, and extinguishers.
- Conduct comprehensive checks of emergency lighting systems and exit signs to ensure functionality during critical situations.
- Document findings accurately using digital reporting tools and maintain detailed records of all testing and maintenance activities.
- Identify and report deficiencies or potential issues with fire protection systems, recommending corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, technicians, and other stakeholders to coordinate testing schedules and ensure minimal disruption to operations.
Qualications/experience
- Proven experience as a Fire Tester, Fire Protection Technician, or similar role within the fire safety industry.
- Strong knowledge of Australian fire safety codes and regulations, particularly AS 1851.
- Certification or qualifications in fire protection testing (e.g., FPAS accreditation) is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex fire protection systems.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
