About our opportunity
We have multiple opportunities available for experienced early literacy practitioners to join our First 5 Forever program team on a contracted part time basis.
In the role of First 5 Forever Outreach Officer, you will support the First 5 Forever Program Leader and the library services team to deliver early literacy outreach events across the region, achieving optimal reach in the community. This will involve a very hands-on approach and manual tasks where you will be on your feet and on the move very regularly.
In your duties, you will regularly deliver Storytime, baby rhyme time and playtime sessions in outdoor spaces across the region. You will compile training packages and develop outreach delivery schedules in liaison with library branch teams. You will also collect and compile data, including feedback and statistics for reporting to the State Library of Qld and Council in addition to work instructions and procedures for supporting and delivering early literacy service programs.
The position will be contracted for 20 hours per week on a 2-year contract (until June 2026) with weekend work being an essential requirement of the role ( click here to view roster).
About you
You are a passionate and dedicated early childhood or library practitioner, with experience undertaking a similar hands-on program delivery role related to early childhood literacy. You will be a respectful and proactive individual, with experience training and developing team members.
To ensure you can successfully undertake the duties of the role, a high attention to detail and developed computer, project and event management skills will be essential. You will be eligible for Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and hold a current driver’s licence.
Due to the nature of the work environment and outreach required, applicants with experience working within a library service and/or can demonstrate an understanding or experience supporting disadvantaged or vulnerable families will be highly desired.
You must be available to work weekends, with a minimum availability of 20 hours per week.
