Position Overview
Based in the beautiful township of Port Lincoln, South Australia the Fish Health Technician role reports directly to the Fish Performance Manager. The position is responsible for monitoring the health of Yellowtail Kingfish (Seriola lalandi) stock at or Port Lincoln farming operations, with occasional travel to other sites on the Eyre Peninsula.
Day-to-day duties include planning and executing fish bathing schedules, Fish Health checks, monitoring and improving biosecurity controls and co-ordinating with feed and operations teams. This is a hands-on role, with applicants needing to be physically fit and competent and capable working at sea.
This position is open to applicants who are hardworking, proactive with excellent communication skills and a keen interest in Fish Health. Experience in a similar role within the industry and/or relevant Aquaculture or Science qualifications will be considered an advantage.

Key Responsibilities
- Fish Husbandry
- Monitor Fish Health
- Gather and present all relevant health information
- Environmental monitoring through water quality assessment
- Planning and implementation of health assessments and bathing operations
- Work closely with operations and feed teams
- Monitor and improve biosecurity controls and procedures
- Work collaboratively with workshop and vessel operational staff
- Commit to work safely on land and at sea
- Ensure compliance with the company’s WHS policies and procedures
- Maintain technical equipment
- Collation, analysis and interpretation of scientific data
- Accurate documentation and reporting
- Excellent communication skills
- Assist with Research and Development projects
Required Skills and Experience
- Relevant industry experience will be considered an advantage
- Appropriate Tertiary degree or Aquaculture qualification desirable
- Coxswain boat operators license desirable
- Strong organisational skills including a demonstrated ability to determine priorities, make independent decisions and meet tight deadlines
- Experience with advanced statistical tools and analysing data
- Experience coordinating and maintaining projects
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Able to work in a team-based setting in challenging environmental conditions
- Competent and capable working at sea
- High level written and verbal skills
- Current driver’s license
- First aid certifications desirable
- Full unrestricted work rights in Australia
