Form of workOur client is seeking someone with experience as a Fitter/Turner/Fabricator to join their maintenance team. This team is responsible for carrying out maintenance activities, both preventive and breakdown, and overseeing projects related to the installation of new equipment and upgrades, ensuring operational efficiency.

Description
Additional Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on sawmill equipment, ensuring optimal functionality.
- General machining experience with centre lathe and milling machine
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimise downtime and maximise production efficiency.
- Operate and set up a variety of machine tools to produce precision components for sawmill machinery.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to fabricate and assemble parts according to specifications.
- Ensure that all machined components meet quality standards and tolerances.
- Utilise Mig and stick welding techniques for fabrication and repair tasks.
- Apply welding skills to work on components related to pneumatic and hydraulics systems.
- Contribute to the fabrication and assembly
- Conduct regular safety checks on machinery and tools, reporting any concerns to the supervisor.
Profile
To be considered for this role, you will have
- Proven experience in general fitting, including pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Expertise in general machining with a centre lathe and milling machine.
- Proficient in Mig & stick welding techniques.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot machinery breakdowns.
- Possession of a current Driver's License.
- Forklift License is an advantage.
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
- Excellent communication skills with peers and management staff.
- Enjoyment of hands-on work
- Reliable with good job record-keeping skills.
- Positive approach to workplace safety.
