About the Role
The Water section is the custodian of the water cycle for Townsville and surrounds delivering water, wastewater and solid waste services to the community. It also provides specialised mechanical and electrical trade services across Townsville City Council (TCC).
The fitter position will provide mechanical service to Townsville City Council through the delivery of safe, efficient, and cost-effective work ensuring the ongoing operation of council’s critical assets and the continued delivery of water and wastewater services to the community.
In this role you will convey a positive, proactive safety culture. You will provide guidance to apprentices and other works as required. There is a requirement to participate in the on-call roster and overtime arrangements as required, to resolve out of hours operational issues or emergency works including disaster management.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Qualified Tradesperson as a Fitter and Turner (or equivalent)
- Current “C” class driver’s licence essential
- Current “MR” class driver’s licence desirable
- Licence to perform High Risk Work (Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights, Dogman) desirable
- Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD) essential
- Medium level computer skills commensurate with the operation of business management system software
- Ability to perform high quality mechanical work on Townsville City Council asset types
- Ability to interpret plans and specifications, estimate and procure materials, and contribute to the development of work plans
- Sound level of technical problem solving skills
- Sound customer service and communication skills
- Sound report writing skills
- Sound computer literacy skills
