Our client is a leading provider in water and wastewater services to urban and remote customers across the Northern Territory. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Fixed Asset Accountant and a Management Accountant to join our clients their dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurate Recording and Reporting: Ensure precise recording and reporting of property, plant, and equipment in both statutory and Management reports, fulfilling internal and external reporting requirements.
- Expert Advice and Support: Provide expert advice and support across business units regarding asset capitalisation, ensuring compliance with policies, processes, and Accounting Standards to uphold a sound asset management framework.
- Annual Valuations: Coordinate annual valuations to ensure property, plant, and equipment reflect fair value.
- Policy Maintenance: Maintain and update accounting policies related to assets and capitalisation.
- Compliance: Perform duties in accordance with Power and Water's safety, environmental, and quality policies, as well as corporate values and strategies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Essential:
- Superior People Skills: Proven experience in managing successful teams to meet work objectives within time frames in an environment of change and continuous improvement.
- Independence: Ability to work independently, delivering timely and accurate work with a high level of attention to detail and adaptability to changing work environments.
- Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and mediation skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders, including diverse cultures.
- Operational Engagement: Demonstrated ability to engage with operational business lines and communicate complex accounting theories to non-accountants.
- Analytical Skills: High-level analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Financial Reporting: Demonstrated experience in complex financial reporting, including interpreting and applying Australian Accounting Standards.
- Asset Management: Experience providing expert advice on asset management, including capitalisation, and developing and reviewing related policies and procedures.
- Valuation Coordination: Proven experience in coordinating and managing annual valuations to ensure assets reflect fair value.
Desirable:
- Education: Degree in Accounting with Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification, or near qualification.
- Theoretical Experience: Demonstrated experience in complex fixed asset accounting theory, including tax strategy and valuation techniques.
- Industry Experience: Experience in utilities, heavy industries, or related environments with an understanding of contemporary issues in the power and water industry.
