A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.Join us and unearth your potential in a global company that is at the forefront of shaping the future of the mining industry.About the RoleReporting to the Fixed Plant Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanical Fitter is responsible for providing safe efficient mechanical services involving the repair, servicing and maintenance of Newmont Tanami's Fixed Plant surface and underground equipment. Equipment may include but not limited to pumps, batch plant, crusher, conveyors, paste plant, primary ventilation fans and ancillary items. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.In this role, you will
- Be responsible for maintaining and repairing all aspects of Fixed Plant associated equipment on the surface and underground work areas. Including crusher plant, paste plant, cement batching plant, surface ventilation fans, air compressors, refrigeration plant, underground dewatering system, refuge chambers, vent doors and other associated Fixed Plant mining equipment.
- Adhere to the work management process, including, but not limited to, completion of daily time confirmations and adding accurate work history to tasks completed.
- Be able to supervise and mentor apprentices.
- The ability to work well within a team and also individually.
- Perform the role of task lead during shutdowns, ensuring work performed is completed safely and to a high level of standard by the shutdown crews.
- Hold a current relevant trade qualification (Mechanical Fitter or Fitter and Turner).
- Previous mining experience required - Underground experience highly regarded.
- Current AUS driver's license.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Able to sustain a positive work environment.
- Previous experience using SAP highly regarded.
- Hold current certificates for working at heights, confined space entry, forklift (LF), EWP and dogging (DG). Desired, but not required are non-slewing mobile crane (CN) and poly welding.
