Your new role
We have an excellent opportunity available for an experienced Fixed Plant Operator to work in our Ferrous department at Kwinana Beach.
Reporting to the Ferrous Team Leader, you will safely operate machinery in order to sort, grade and purchase materials.
You will be rewarded with ongoing mentoring opportunities and support from the Ferrous Team during your probation period and throughout your career within Sims, working for a sustainable growing business with class-leading technology.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operate and maintain Kwinana Beach shredder and related machinery.
- Conduct daily inspections of shredding equipment.
- Monitor the shredding process to ensure efficiency and safety.
- Maintain accurate records of processed materials and equipment performance.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist team with shut down duties.
Essential Criteria:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to scrap metal processing.
- Flexibility to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
Desirable criteria:
- In-depth knowledge of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metal sorting & processing techniques to international specifications being of high advantage.
- Experience operating shredders or heavy machinery is preferred.
