About the Business
With a history of over 160 years in the Australian and New Zealand sugar industries, Wilmar Sugar Australia operations span the value chain from sugar cane growing, sugar manufacturing, refining, exporting, and marketing, to the production of renewable electricity, ethanol and sustainable agricultural products.
To be more specific, Wilmar manufactures over half of Australia's raw sugar, and each year exports enough electricity to power more than 68,000 Australian homes for 12 months. As well as supplying ethanol (ethyl alcohol) to the growing fuel market in Australia, Wilmar also supplies a significant market share to various industries including the pharmaceutical, printing, cleaning, winery, aerosol, animal health and food and beverage industries.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a Fixed-Term Fertiliser Plant Operator to join our team located at Oonooie. The ideal applicant will report to the site's Oonooie Co-ordinator. This position will involve undertaking the operation of Biodunder (fertiliser) pumping equipment and a range of operator tasks including:
- Maintenance activities and general duties,
- Batching and movement of liquid fertilisers and stockfeed,
- Maintaining high safety and environmental standards,
- Effective communication with the production team,
- Accurate completion of forms and checklists,
- Working in a team to maintain operational effectiveness,
- Liaise with internal and external parties to coordinate and deliver product to specification.
The opportunity
While the following are requirements in this role, we are prepared to provide training to people who possess the right aptitude and team fit. The successful applicant will ideally have;
- experience associated with performing operator roles within a manufacturing / fertiliser processing environment,
- an ability to perform physically demanding work,
- be able to understand and adhere to site health, safety and environmental procedures,
- a forklift license (desirable),
- the ability to work in-crush and out-of-crush season rosters,
- basic computer literacy working with Microsoft applications is advantageous and exposure to SAP is preferred.
