About Mackays
The Mackays Group is a family farming business that has been in operation for 75 years. The farming business has diversified to produce bananas, papaya, sugarcane, cattle and avocados. The business is directed by the family’s 3rd generation. The Mackays Group is the largest banana producer in Australia, employing more than 550 people. This vertically integrated business also deals in ripening and wholesale marketing of their own produce, as well as other growers’.
We are seeking an experienced and business minded Fleet Controller to join our team in Tully. The Fleet Controller will be accountable for the operational management of the entire Mackay Farming Group vehicle and machinery fleet and will ensure a continuous improvement of the commercial and safety culture across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Develop, implement, and manage Fleet policies, processes, budgets, plans and financial controls.
- Deliver commercially sound, financially sustainable programs which align to best practice, and enable effective, safe, and efficient operations.
- Manage an asset maintenance plan, including heavy equipment and transport inspections.
- Continuously monitor capital resources which ensures the availability of a modern and efficient Fleet which meets the Company’s current and future needs.
- Be accountable for contract management ensuring maximum value is obtained through effective contract reviews and monitoring performance against agreed KPI's with suppliers.
- Actively network and research to gather intelligence on emerging technologies, systems, processes, and management practices to identify opportunities which support business improvements.
About You
This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated and business minded individual. You will need to demonstrate:
- Substantial experience in a similar senior fleet management role.
- Post graduate studies in asset management/fleet management practices-desirable but not essential.
- Ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment.
- Knowledge of motor industry and ability to liaise with dealers, manufacturers, government authorities, contractors and service providers.
- Well organised, pragmatic and able to handle a diverse and complex workload and stakeholder portfolio.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong influencing, negotiation and networking skills.
- Advanced computer skills with extensive software proficiency covering wide variety of applications including Microsoft Excel.
