Qualifications and Experience:
- A qualified diesel fitter
- Demonstrated experience in managing a team of mechanics and other maintenance personnel.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, including WHS and environmental requirements.
- Strong technical knowledge of heavy vehicle and earthmoving equipment maintenance and repair.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyse data and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite.
This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will be required to work outside of regular business hours and be on-call as required.
The role will have multiple remote work sites with main bases in Cooktown and Bramwell Station (Cape York).
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the maintenance and repair of the company's fleet of heavy vehicles and earthmoving plant and equipment.
- Ensure that all plant and equipment is maintained to a high standard and is compliant with relevant regulations and standards, including Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and environmental requirements.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime and increase operational readiness.
- Coordinate and schedule repairs and maintenance with external service providers, including managing work orders and ensuring timely completion of work.
- Oversee the procurement and management of new spare parts and consumables required for equipment maintenance and repair.
- Monitor and analyse equipment performance and maintenance data to identify opportunities for improvement and or replacement.
- Manage a team of mechanics and other maintenance personnel, providing leadership, mentoring, and training as required.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to Fleet Maintenance and repair.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to equipment maintenance and repair activities, including service histories, maintenance schedules, and warranty information.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant legislation and regulations.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on equipment maintenance and repair activities, including progress against maintenance schedules, equipment availability, and costs.
- Provide emergency onsite assistance when required.
