Located in the picturesque Dandenong Ranges, Puffing Billy Railway, a Victorian State entity is Australia's premier preserved steam railway. Operating on the original mountain track from Belgrave to Gembrook, this century-old train offers a range of fun-filled experiences for visitors young and old.

An iconic tourist attraction, Puffing Billy Railway attracts large numbers of tourists each year, thanks to the tireless efforts of more than 300 volunteers and a team of dedicated staff.

About the Role

Reporting to the Commercial Manager and based at the new ‘state of the art’ Lakeside Visitor Centre, Emerald, Puffing Billy Railway have an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced Food and Beverage Supervisor to join the team. This is a rare opportunity to work in this Award Winning space across our high volume Railway Cafe, our State of the Art Function Room and additional venues located along the rail corridor.

This full-time position will help drive business success across organisations food and beverage operations, provide high standards of customer service, oversee stock control and presentation and supervise the Food and Beverage team.

This position will involve weekend work with some evening shifts required in line with our special events schedule.

Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

• Provide daily supervision and direction to staff and ensure tasks are performed effectively and efficiently
• Coach and mentor the team to ensure engagement while on shift
• Participate in the recruitment, training, mentoring, performance management and skill development of the food and beverage team
• Maintain product knowledge of all food, drinks and wine lists in order to advise and make recommendations to visitors
• Manage Food and Workplace Safety and the Responsible Service of Alcohol and ensure the process, compliance, protocols and documentation is adhered to by all staff
• Supervise any scheduled meetings and events which may take place in a variety of designated locations along the Puffing Billy rail corridor

To be considered for this position you must have experience in a similar role along with relevant hospitality qualifications. You will have experience in supervising front of house teams, and in the operations of fast paced, high-volume hospitality environments.

This position would suit a person who is very hands on and leads by example, being able to pre-empt and respond to any situation in a dynamic food and beverage environment.
