The Athenaeum Club, one of Melbourne's most prestigious establishments, seeks a proactive, organised, and energetic individual to join the team as a Food and Beverage Supervisor.
This is a rare opportunity to join a long established highly regarded city Club. Our current F&B Supervisor is leaving us to travel the world.
You'll be responsible for coordinating and supervising the delivery of service in the Club's Bar, Restaurant and for a high volume of events and private functions that fill the Club's calendar on an annual basis. Such events include meetings, corporate functions, leisure events, weddings, cocktail parties, sporting events and special themed events. Working closely with and reporting to the F&B Services Manager, you will supervise the service delivery across 7 floors, often multiple events simultaneously.
In this hands on role you will liaise with all levels of staff and management to ensure perfect event delivery with a focus on quality and attention to detail. Leading by example you will provide your growing team with regular training, coaching, appraisals and performance management.
The successful applicant will:
- Have a proven track record in a similar role - either as a team leader or current supervisor
- Display excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills
- Be well groomed
- Have strong Food and Beverage skills including a la carte and fine dining skills
- Be able to train and lead others
- Display an uncompromising focus on attention to detail
- Have an ability to manage conflict and solve problems
- Flexibility with working hours - day and evening shifts involved
- Have a good memory and flair for creativity
- Be patient and have a sense of humour

The Food and Beverage outlets are closed on weekends with only an occasional private function on a Saturday or Sunday.
The Club offers a great work-life balance with very few weekends required, no public holidays (except Christmas Day when we open for lunch), and reasonable and controlled working hours each week.
