Job description

We currently have an opportunity for a Safety, Compliance and Training Officer to join our team based at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) in Adelaide. This role will ensure compliance of the RAH Patient Kitchen HACCP andFood Safety Plans and training of staff (induction and ongoing compliance).

This role will draw on the expertise of someone from a HACCP Accredited kitchen environment, who is a highly organised individual that can plan and prioritise their work to meet strict deadlines and provide timely and accurate information to all stakeholders.

What you’ll do

The role has a broad remit, with key responsibilities outlined below:

  • Contribute, within delegation, to the compliance of the Food Safety and HACCP plans for RAH Patient Kitchen.
  • Contribute to the management of Food Safety systems within the Patient Kitchen.
  • Actively perform Food Safety Inspections.
  • Provide Food Safety training to staff, deliver toolbox sessions and ongoing training.
  • Perform and Complete internal audits of Patient Kitchen Food Safety program and HACCP program as requested.
  • Maintain a positive Food Safety culture in Patient Kitchen
  • Coordinates administration duties for Work Cover and Return to Work including RTW plans and reports as requested.
  • Actively participate in identifying methods of continuous quality improvement in compliance and Food Safety
  • Adhering to The Downer Standard- Health & Safety (HSE) Policies including use of all safety management systems.
  • Participation in Zero Harm initiatives.
  • Hazard and incident identification, reporting and elimination approached pro-actively and consistent with company policies or procedures.

What you’ll bring

  • Relevant certificates or qualifications in training
  • Previous experience in a HACCP Accredited kitchen environment
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety and associated record keeping is highly advantageous.
  • High level of computer literacy including strong competency in MS Office suite.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Displays a willingness & flexibility to work requirements and change in work practices.
  • Willingness to improve skills and take an active part in further development.
  • Able to engage/motivate, promoting best practices and fostering a positive team culture.
