About our role
The Food Technologist is responsible for the technical development of products within the Bakery division in line with the business’s strategic and financial objectives.
The role spans the development of new products in addition to the renovation of existing products for both quality and cost saving purposes across the Branded, Private Label and Corporate portfolios.
Project scope may include recipe creation, preparation of technical specifications, review of raw materials, packaging content development and review and process improvement.
In our onsite test kitchen, you will develop products from a concept, before upscaling for production trials to develop high quality products for launch.
About you
You have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technical / development role within the FMCG
Industry, designing recipes and developing products from concept through to launch, meeting technical briefs and key project milestones. You also have experience with developing products in the test kitchen and managing factory trials to achieve the desired project and product outcomes.
In your previous role(s) you will have liaised with suppliers in sourcing new raw materials, participated in customer meetings and provided technical support regarding regulatory and compliance queries.
You are proficient at reviewing packaging artwork to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements, as well as driving opportunities for product optimisation, sustainability and cost saving initiatives.
Your product knowledge in baking or similar industry, along with your degree in Food Technology, Applied Science or similar make you the ideal candidate. You also have used key retailer Development & Quality platforms, eg. Coles Fusion.
You are proficient at Project Management, able to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines, with excellent communication, influencing and problem solving skills.
