We service and manage all major key customers nationally, including Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, Metcash, KFC, Subway, PFD and Bidfood.
True Foods is on the search for a Product Technologistto support the business with the development and launch of new product initiative (NPD) and product improvements (R&D).
You will work closely with key stakeholders across the business to execute projects in line with True Foods' broader innovation plans. Your major projects will include new food products, ingredient substitution, manufacturing optimization projects, extended shelf-life trialling and new packaging solutions + more.
How you will contribute
- Lead innovation, renovation, simplification and value engineering initiatives from concept to launch.
- Attend R&D meetings to provide project updates, resolve roadblocks and make key project decisions
- Research industry best practices and latest developments through leveraging key relationships both internal and external to the business.
- Utilise process and unit operations knowledge to assist new product development and existing product improvement to meet internal and externals briefs.
- In consultation with Operations and Supply Chain functions, coordinate and lead product trials.
- Support Operations in the roll out of product changes to ensure smooth handover of NPD and R&D projects across all shifts.
- In conjunction with Operations, support continual improvement of SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) to reflect best practices as needed for new and existing products.
- Ensure all product introductions and changes meet Food Safety and FSANZ regulations and reflect customer expectations including all 2nd and 3rd party standards.
- Engage proactively across all functions to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction of existing products and processes.
What you will bring
- Tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Chemical Engineering or similar
- 3 years demonstrated experience within food manufacturing, preferably within baking
- Working knowledge of food laws and regulations, including but not limited to nutritional facts development, ingredient declarations, development of formulas and maintenance of R&D documentation
- Knowledge and practice of food hygiene, food handling and packaging concepts, HACCP and GMP
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret product, process and equipment commissioning and testing data
