Forge Hand

Overall Forge is Australia's largest forging shop and operates as part of the Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC). Our plant in Albury is involved in the forging of nickel/alloy products for billet/bar applications and the production of complex nickel/alloy forgings for the aerospace, oil & gas and mining industries from alloys produced by our Perth facility.

About the role

The Forge Hand is a member of the team that operates our Davy 2400 Tonne and 3 legged 1500 tonne Hydraulic Presses.

Key Responsibilities

• To assist the Forger in producing the forgings as required
• Follow any instruction issued by the Forge Master, Forge Supervisor or Forger as required
• Drive all forklift types from manipulator type to tyne type in all weight ranges
• Perform any labouring tasks required in the forging process
• Operate cranes from small tonnage to maximum tonnage required for the forging process
• Perform general cleaning duties in the factory
• Load and unload furnaces as per production requirements and instruction by the Forge Master, Forge Supervisor or Forger
• Rotate between different forge operations and shifts as required
• Perform any labouring duties as specified by the Forge Master, Forge Supervisor or Forger
• Learn and apply new skills required of a Forge Hand
• Operate machines in a safe manner
• Report any damages to machines and equipment
• Apply quality procedures
• Basic computer and data entry skills
• Comply with and ensure compliance with PCC Ethics code of conduct.
• Comply with and ensure compliance PCC Cardinal Rules of Quality.

Skills and experience

Prior work experience in an industrial / metal manufacturing environment combined with practical work experience driving forklifts would be an advantage.

A valid forklift licence is beneficial, but we will support the right applicant to gain this skill if necessary.

Recommended applicants for this role will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol testing, functional assessment and background check before appointment.

This role requires a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check Certificate to be obtained prior to the company making an offer of employment to the preferred candidate in order to meet the requirements of the company’s Defence Industry Security Program, Known Consignor Program and Trusted Trader Program.
