Duty Statement – Forklift Operator
Atherton Tableland Air Service is an Aerial Application company based at the Atherton and Mareeba Aerodromes. We operate piston and turbine powered fixed-wing aerial application aircraft servicing the agricultural industry in Far North Queensland.
- Key Duties
Ground Support:
To provide daily ground support to aerial application aircraft including:
- Loading agricultural products including chemicals, fertilisers and seed into solids loaders and aircraft using designated forklifts and lifting equipment
- Towing company aircraft using designated forklifts
- Loading and unloading trucks and other vehicles using designated forklifts
- Storing products safely in pallet racking
- Refuelling aircraft
- Keeping work areas such as hanger, chemical sheds, loading pad, vehicles and surrounding grounds clean and tidy.
- Inspecting and controlling forklift and ground support equipment to identify wear and damage
- Servicing and performing minor repairs and adjustments to forklifts and ground support equipment
- Keeping accurate records of all agricultural chemicals loaded into the aircraft.
General Duties:
- Assisting with daily business operations, including answering company telephone, receiving goods inwards, taking bookings; and
- Preparing vehicles, loading equipment and fuel for off-base operations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Vehicle licence (Essential)
- Forklift licence (Essential)
- Medium or Heavy Rigid Licence (highly desirable or willing to obtain)
- 2 years Full Time work experience in a similar role, or
- A Certificate II or III qualification or at least one year of relevant experience
- Aerial Application of Australia Spraysafe Loader/Mixer Accreditation (highly desirable or willing to obtain)
Personal Attributes Required for the role:
- The ability to think on your feet and manage workloads, especially when working under pressure
- The ability to communicate clearly in a small team environment and take instructions on the run
- Preparedness to work flexible hours. Weekends, early starts and late finishes are required on a shared roster, especially during peak periods. Applicants must be prepared to work 7 days a week.
- Be prepared to work away from home base during peak periods including remote work on stations in Western Qld
- Be physically fit as heavy lifting is required
- Prepared to work safely around running aircraft
- Prepared to undergo Pre-employment medical and Drug and Alcohol testing
Employment Conditions
- The position is Full Time in accordance with the Pastoral Award 2020.
- The salary is a minimum of $70,000 per annum.
