Position No. 1002

Temporary Full Time - 3 years

Band 6 $87,590.36 - $95,340.96 yearly, plus 11% statutory superannuation

Join us to make a real difference as Wellington Shire Councils first Free From Violence Officer.

Located within our Community and Culture Department and supported by the Free From Violence Local Government Program, this role is at the forefront of primary prevention focusing on strategically planning and implementing a whole of Council approach to family and all forms of violence against awareness and education. As our Free From Violence Officer, you'll be part of a groundbreaking initiative aimed at embedding gender equality and family violence prevention practices into our organisation and the services we deliver.

What your day will look like:

  • Collaborate and partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop, co-design and deliver evidence informed programs to raise awareness about Family Violence and All Forms of Violence Against Women.
  • Leading the implementation of strategies outlined in The Local Government Guide for Preventing Family Violence and All Forms of Violence Against Women.
  • Promoting positive attitudes and behaviours in our workplace and the programs and policies Council deliver.
  • Advocate for, and represent, Council in appropriate Gender Equality and Free From Violence networks and committees.
  • Monitoring and evaluating how effective the Guide in reducing gender-based violence incidences and prevention.
  • Providing guidance to our organisation and local groups on preventing violence and promoting gender equality.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Extensive experience in gender equity and/or the prevention of violence against women.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects effectively.
  • A proactive, adaptable attitude with a passion for driving positive change in our workplace and community.
  • Proven track record in successfully managing community-based projects, preferably within the primary prevention sector.
  • Experience in designing and delivering capacity-building activities, workshops, and training sessions for community members and project stakeholders.
