Title/Position:Assistant Accountant

Qualification/experience required:
- Completed an Accounting Degree/Work Experience in a similar role
- Strong proficiency in Excel and MYOB
- High attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Enjoy working as part of a team
- Ability to prioritise and handle a varied workload time-effectively and to a high standard
Duties and position description:
Create sales invoices by course at enrolment for international, domestic and funded students; and receipts payments into MYOB and update the student payment spreadsheet on a daily basis.
Enter purchase invoices and payments into MYOB, process contras as required and reconcile to supplier statements.
Prepare accurate commission calculation and payments to education and migration agents on a required basis, including communication with agents and relationship management.
Bank Reconciliation and account management: prepare bank reconciliations for all accounts on a weekly basis, liaise with the banks in relations to loans, term deposits and other transaction accounts.
Debt collection and management including but not limited to liaising with students and external debt collection agencies to arrange collection, payment plan and extension; and update and amend credit control policies and procedures as required.
Prepare month end income adjustments for student income in advance.
Prepare all information required for audit (including profit & loss and balance sheet) and answer questions as required. Reconcile statutory accounts to management accounts and process journal adjustments and roll over financial year end in MYOB.
Update cashflow and budgets, annual budget to be reviewed on as required basis, detailed monthly cashflows to be updated daily for receipts and payments. Monitoring actual income & expenditures VS budgeted income & expenditures, analysing areas of concern and predicating areas to address.
Prepare financial analysis as required by directors, including analysis of profitability of course and individual classes, % of students with fees outstanding, collection rates, etc.
Ensure payments of GST, PAYG, income tax and Superannuation are made as required, and liaising with external auditors and tax agents for yearly income tax return preparation and finalisation.
Prepare other analysis and investigation as required, for example, sales income by agent, by country, by salesperson, course profitability, project predictions and analysis for overseas projects/investments/new business opportunities and financial risk analysis.
Ensure internal control systems are stringent and areas of weakness are foreseen and addressed.
This is a full-time salaried position working from Monday to Friday.
