We are currently seeking a skilled Handyman to join our team and ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of our student accommodation facilities. The Handyman will play a crucial role in maintaining the overall functionality and appearance of our properties, contributing to the satisfaction and well-being of our residents. This is a Full Time role working 5 days per week (Monday - Friday), reporting to the Facilities Supervisor.
The role will be based at Murdoch University Village with an hourly rate of $32.30.
Duties
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and management. for the villages 180+ apartments
- Repair or replace damaged appliances, fixtures, and equipment.
- Conduct general repairs such as painting, plastering, basic plumbing and carpentry work.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of common areas and outdoor spaces.
- Assist with move-in and move-out inspections and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Acting as an on-site contact for external contractors and trades persons.
- Conduct inspections to identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Proven experience as a Handyman or similar role, preferably in a residential or commercial setting.
- Proficiency in basic maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor tasks.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- General computer skills including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
- Well-developed communication skills.
- A good working knowledge of OH&S standards.
