The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a highly competent and committed lowrise or open license builder with both site supervising and estimating experience if possible,  who efficiently provides comprehensive pricing on a variety of Building and Construction projects while acting as a company nominee under QBCC. The role required an individual who will be fully accountable and take responsibility for the dwelling homes cost estimate and full tender lifecycle if required later on. The ideal candidate will be a logical and lateral thinker, able to evaluate work methods, investigate alternatives, consider techniques of construction and thoroughly research material/ plant/ labour costs; all to provide innovative and value-adding solutions for our customers, using the modern estimating/ construction management software.

This role will suit a high energy individual who is looking at making a strong, long-term career in estimating and construction management.

Reporting directly to CEO, the applicant's duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

Duties:

• Successfully supervise/Onsite managing a number of sites and their progress
• Manage budgets and timelines successfully for all projects
• Tendering for the subcontractors
• Program and schedule works
• Engage, organize and liaise with subcontractors
• Manage OH&S and QA processes
• Report to management on project progress
• Determining the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labour for construction projects
• Researching construction documents and analysing specifications.
• Preparing estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling project work
• Managing pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions if required
• Preparing estimates to meet project goals, such as setting work hours, sequencing tasks, obtaining materials, and securing the best deals with vendors and subcontractors
• Ensuring that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline
• Regularly reporting to Management and keeping clients updated on the project status
• Formulating contingency plans and effectively managing risks that might impact cost and time estimates
• Keeping track of the latest estimating technology and industry-related techniques
• Collaborating with other teams, conducting site visits, and providing other services, like bid deliveries, when required
• Assists construction managers, architects and surveyors in planning and organisation
• Interprets plans, regulations, and codes of practice
• Calculates costs and estimates time scales
• Review contracts for signing by CEO
• Prepare Variation quotes and documentation for signing and review by CEO
• Assist in preparing processes for Planning Team
• Prepare specification documentation
• Train and oversee the development of cadet and junior office staff

What We Will Love About You:

Your ability to be flexible and have a can-do attitude will ensure that you succeed in this role. You will bring:

• At least 3+ year experience as a Supervisor / Estimator / Builder in the Building and Construction industry
• Background in Carpentry / Building preferred by not necessary
• QBCC builder's License lowrise or open
• High performing communication - Both written and verbally
• A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying would be advantageous but not necessary
• The initiative to control cost or produce next level tenders with our team
• Skills at interpreting technical drawings and tender documents
• Ability to monitor market prices, new techniques and cost trends
• A proven track record of working to strict deadlines
• A genuine drive to ensure quote follow ups are done on time
• Exceptional ability to drive a strong culture, promoting our core values to be respectful, patient, flexible, accountable and focused
• Experience with Estimation Programs is a pre-requisite- MS Project, Expert Estimation and overall tender methodology development is advantageous
• Methodical work ethic and attention to detail and approach to work
• Teamworking, relationship-building and influencing skills
• Appreciation of WHS and a keen eye for detail
• Hold a current QLD driver’s license
