Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Funeral Director. Our business is a family-run establishment with a long-standing commitment to serving our community with care and respect. As a Funeral Director, you will play a crucial role in upholding these values, ensuring that every family we serve receives the support and guidance they need during their time of loss.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects of funeral arrangements, including scheduling services, coordinating with clergy and other service providers, and assisting with paperwork and documentation.
- Provide compassionate support to families during their time of loss, offering guidance and assistance with funeral planning and decision-making.
- Oversee the preparation of the deceased, including washing, preparing and dressing, ensuring that they are handled with dignity and respect at all times.
- Direct funeral services and ceremonies, ensuring that they are conducted smoothly and according to the wishes of the family.
- Handle logistical tasks related to funeral services, including transportation of the deceased, coordination of floral arrangements, and management of funeral home facilities.
- Ongoing upkeep of the funeral home and funeral vehicles, not limited to cleaning the hurse and vacuuming the chapel.
- General office administration including answering phone calls, emails, corresponding with doctors and hospitals.
- Participate in on-call rotation, being available to assist families outside of regular business hours.
Requirements:
- No previous experience required; all training provided.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide empathetic support to grieving families.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Physical fitness and strength, with the ability to lift from the ground, above head, and carry through stairs while maintaining poise and composure.
- Sensitivity to cultural and religious customs surrounding death and mourning.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Currently have, or be able to obtain, a Working With Vulnerable Peoples Card.
- Must be willing to undergo a Police Check.

Working Hours:
The standard working hours are 8.30am - 4.30pm Monday - Friday
On-call requires you to be available one week out of every three.
However, must be flexible with the odd afternoon extended service, or weekend transfer when on-call.
Remuneration will be provided to any work outside of the standard working hours.
