  • Salary from $87,329 to $94,389 per annum, plus superannuation

About the position

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic creative professional to manage the Wanneroo Regional Gallery and deliver arts and cultural exhibitions and programs that engage the City of Wanneroo's diverse and growing community.

The Gallery Curator will manage the Wanneroo Regional Gallery's exhibition program, as well as oversee the daily operations of the facility.

Reporting to the Coordinator Cultural Services, this role will provide excellence and variety in art and cultural exhibitions, programs and events to foster creativity in our City. The preferred candidate will have an understanding of the public sector, in supporting arts and cultural services; and have a high level of communication and negotiation skills. 

As a collaborative member of the Cultural Development Team, you will be responsible for:

  • Curating, developing, implementing and evaluating art and cultural exhibitions and programs.
  • Coordinating and administrating art gallery spaces to facilitate exhibition programming and associated activities.
  • Developing and implementing communication plans to promote cultural exhibitions and programs.
  • Managing a small team, allocating tasks to ensure exhibitions and gallery operations meet corporate and industry standards.
  • Liaison across internal teams to maximise impact of arts and cultural development programs.
  • Managing external stakeholder relationships including but not limited to: partnerships, artists, art groups, committees, and community organisations.


About you

We are seeking a passionate and creative Gallery Curator with high-level interpersonal skills and experience in delivering high quality exhibitions, supporting programs and events. This will include management of our exciting 2-year partnership with the National Gallery of Australia to share a selection of original works by Andy Warhol with our community.

You will be experienced in handling, condition reporting, and presentation of artworks and cultural objects.

As such, you will be able to demonstrate through your resume and cover letter that you meet the following capabilities:

  • Experience in exhibition programming and coordinating a gallery space.
  • The ability to create promotional material to showcase the Wanneroo Regional Gallery and exhibitions program.
  • The ability to support existing cultural activities and establish new initiatives in partnership with arts organisations, community groups, arts groups, and networks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships, and work, with artists and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of best practice handling, condition reporting, care and presentation of artwork and cultural objects.
  • Ability to lead a team in a customer focused environment.
  • University degree in relevant discipline such as Fine Arts, Arts Administration or equivalent is required.
