About the role
North Burnett Regional Council is seeking a Ganger to join the Civil Works Team based in Gayndah.
The Ganger assists the Construction Supervisor taking a ‘hands on’ approach in leading a multi-skilled team to undertake preventative and reactive maintenance, programmed construction, and general maintenance / construction of road corridor infrastructure.
About you
You will have demonstrated leadership experience and ability build a positive and cohesive team while undertaking plant operation and/ or labouring tasks in the construction and maintenance of roads, including traffic control procedures, kerb and gutter, footpath, concrete drainage etc in and around the town of Gayndah.
With a focus on safe work practices, you will have proven knowledge and experience within civil construction in a similar role with demonstrated ability to operate plant and equipment relevant to the tasks.
You will also have demonstrated, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders both within Council and the community.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience leading work teams and knowledge of and experience applying Work, Health and Safety in the work environment.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding occupation, often in noisy conditions.
- Current unrestricted ‘HR’ or ‘HC’ class driver’s licence.
- Possess a Work Safe in the Construction Industry Induction Certificate (White Card).
- Relevant plant operator competency (evidence) as relevant to the position.
- Traffic Management Implementation Program licence.
- Traffic Control Industry Authority.
- Qualifications or undertaking formal qualifications relevant to the work area, (e.g. minimum Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations) would be highly desirable.
