BABYWEAR & CHILDRENSWEAR GARMENT TECHNICIAN

A rare opportunity exists to join the product development team of this long established, well known, boutique children's wear company located in Glen Iris, Melbourne to help bringing to life our fashion forward and exclusive designs.
We are looking for a Garment Technician experienced in babywear to join our team. This role requires you to work in our head office and is part time, 4 days a week.
Working in our production team, responsibilities will include:
- Support the design team in translating design concepts to technical garment packs including graded specification sheets.
- Measure & check samples at all stages of the development and production lifecycle.
- Problem-solve garment fit & construction issues.
- Create technical and quality assurance reports to ensure fit and workmanship is consistently achieved and is meeting brand standards and expectations.
- Maintain consistent fits and pattern block library.
- Communicate directly with factories regarding all pattern, construction & workmanship concerns.
- Allocating correct nightwear and limited day wear labels as well as care label instructions relevant to garments.
To be considered for this role you must:
- Have strong technical knowledge on garment construction and pattern making, including babywear.
- Have experience assessing garment for quality and expressing expectations to factories.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Experience in dealing with offshore factories.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator.
- Experience working under pressure and juggling tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and detail.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to work in a small team while also confident working autonomously.
- Must be flexible to help other team members and very well organised.
