General Assistant

Nambucca Valley Christian Community School (NVCCS) is a thriving K-12 Christian School situated on the Mid North Coast of NSW. We are seeking a suitably skilled General Assistant to join our team. The successful applicant will work in partnership with the Business Manager, teaching and non-teaching staff to actively support the Christian vision, ethos and policies of the School, while performing a range of tasks related to the routine maintenance and upkeep of the its assets, buildings and grounds. This is an ongoing, part to full-time position, three to five days per week (0.6 – 1.0 FTE) as negotiated with the successful applicant.
Role duties
- Perform routine maintenance of school assets, including buildings and grounds per the School’s Maintenance Plan
- Respond to maintenance issues in a timely manner
- Undertake minor repairs of buildings and equipment not covered by contracts or requiring a qualified tradesperson
- Co-ordinate trades and services when required
- Safely and proficiently operate machinery, tools and equipment necessary to the role
- Preparation, set-up and removal of furniture and equipment to support the smooth running of school activities
- Attend and contribute to the School’s Health and Safety Committee meetings
- Other related duties to the role, within the capabilities of the General Assistant as required
Essential Criteria:
- Committed Christian able to subscribe to Nambucca Valley Christian Community School’s statement of faith (available on the website)
- Adhere to Workplace Health and Safety standards
- Work cooperatively within a team environment, as well as autonomously
- Prioritise and complete set tasks in a timely manner
- Organised with strong attention to detail
- Proficient computer, written and oral communication skills
- Initiative, self-motivated and a ‘can do’ attitude
- A current Australian Driver’s Licence
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in a similar role
- Trade background
