About the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation

The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (WBCF) is the community arm of the Western Bulldogs Football Club (Club) that utilises the trusted brand of our Club to deliver life changing programs. At its’ core the WBCF delivers demonstrated impact in the areas of health and wellbeing, youth leadership, cultural diversity, social inclusion and community advocacy. 

Across Melbourne and Victoria’s west, the WBCF reaches over 20,000 community members each year including direct capacity building for over 4,000 participants in our targeted programs. This critical work is underpinned by a whole of club commitment that is strongly supported by all three levels of government and a range of corporate and community partners. Our programs are independently and academically evaluated to ensure we meet the ever-changing needs of our community, and we are always evolving our content and delivery methods to be best practice.

About the Role

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the community? We are seeking a driven and dynamic General Manager to join our team as we embark on an exciting growth journey.

The General Manager of the WBCF will report into the Chief Executive Officer of the Club and the Chair of the WBCF Board. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Visionary Leadership: Leading the WBCF’s vision and strategy, ensuring high quality, innovative service and program delivery that meets all operational and financial targets. This includes fostering a positive culture and motivating staff towards the common objectives.
  • Financial Oversight: Own overall budget, financial planning, and reporting to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the WBCF.
  • Program Development and Evaluation: Leading the WBCF to ensure the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services that address the needs of the community. Ensure programs are effective, efficient, and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • People Management: Leading a people first, high performing department where you care, support and bring out the best in your staff members to achieve the common objectives. Advocate across the Club to ensure the WBCF’s work remains front of mind and we continue to positively impact community. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with partners, government officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders to garner support for WBCF's programs and initiatives. This involves active networking, public speaking engagements, and representing the WBCF and Club in diverse forums.

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce/business administration, community or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Significant experience leading high-performance function and/or small organisation and highly energised team. 
  • Demonstrated high level strategic and analytical skills. 
  • Extensive knowledge of finance and budgeting & legislative compliance.
  • Experience managing complete business units, implementing methodologies that underpin strong business and financial management, compliance and governance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population and manage diverse stakeholder groups exceptionally.
  • Experience working with / on Boards.
  • Working with Children's Check and police check required.
