About J Wyndham Prince

J Wyndham Prince (JWP) has delivered some of the largest and most innovative land development projects in the Greater Sydney region over the last 40 years.

Following the recent retirement of their General Manager, JWP are seeking a suitably-experienced and highly motivated candidate to build upon their solid reputation and contribute to their further success by leading and managing a capable, professional team providing quality civil engineering and project management consultancy services.

The Opportunity

JWP has recently won some significant work, relocated to modern offices in the Penrith CBD, and is primed and well-positioned for growth.

The General Manager reports directly to the Board, and responsibilities encompass strategic leadership, governance and operational excellence. Proven leadership skills including the ability to develop and nurture positive relationships (internally and externally) will be critical to success. Specific key responsibilities include:

  • Directly leading and managing a senior team of 10, and a broader team totalling around 70
  • Working with the Directors to establish and then operationalise strategic plans that deliver sustainability and growth
  • Championing, building and maintaining a collaborative, high-performance and positive work culture that is focused on continual improvement
  • Enhancing commercial performance through the optimisation of resources and efficiency of all business operations, and contributing to business development efforts
  • Ensuring all service contract requirements and obligations are met or exceeded, and that JWP is well-positioned to maintain/win future contracts and tenders
  • Effectively managing risk, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal and external standards
  • Reporting to the Board in relation to the achievement of financial and other targets.

About You

Our ideal candidate will likely have:

  • relevant tertiary qualifications (preferable), combined with in excess of 10 years experience at a senior level, preferably in consulting or professional services environments
  • proven leadership experience at a senior level, including strong team and financial management experience
  • a proven track record and enthusiasm for planning for and driving operational change and commercial performance (preferably in a consulting environment)
  • exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills and experience, including the ability to relate to, negotiate with and influence people at all levels (internally and externally)
  • a highly collaborative approach, including the willingness and ability to mentor/coach others, combined with a pragmatic work style
  • excellent organisational / task-management skills and attention to detail
  • demonstrated proficiency in identifying and effectively responding to risks
  • experience building and maintaining effective, high-performing workplace cultures; and
  • a demonstrated commitment to quality work and exceptional service.

Business development and relevant industry experience would be welcome, though is not essential.

While this will be a full-time role upon commencement, there is potential for a reduced hours/days arrangement to be negotiated in future, if that’s your preference.
