If so, we want you to join our team!Job DescriptionSodexo are currently seeking a GM of Indigenous Affairs to lead Sodexo’s efforts to ensure our significant and long-lasting positive impact on addressing Indigenous disadvantage contributes to “closing the gap”. This position reports to the Managing Director and is a member of the executive leadership team.Job Scope:
  • Develop and coordinate implementation of our Indigenous Affairs strategy as it relates to employment, building community partnerships, community sustainability and enhancing community business opportunities.
  • Coordinate the development and approval of our RAP and report on our progress toward achievement of objectives.
  • Advancing behavioural change in the organisation, promoting a culture of inclusion and awareness through providing practical advice, support, resources, tools and action plans.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of community partnerships and projects which define employment and local business opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Identify new innovative opportunities to progress and consolidate our commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians and local communities.
  • Provide practical advice and support on implementing relevant strategies and action plans to achieve our RAP and Indigenous Affairs strategy.
  • Supports initiatives to improve recruiting, development and retention of Indigenous employees.
  • Establish and maintain effective community and client facing business networks and relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to TLO Groups and Corporations, Communities, Indigenous organisations to achieve our Indigenous Affairs strategy and support our business development and client retention efforts.
Requirements of the role will include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and deliver Indigenous affairs strategy that is complementary to Country Business and HR strategies.
  • Provide leadership to the Indigenous team for the achievement of company objectives under Sodexo’s Indigenous Employment and our RAP.
  • Responsible for implementing assigned components of strategy and tracking related metrics and accountability for Indigenous & Community engagement across the service platforms and multiple segments of Australia.
  • Provides practical Indigenous Affairs consultation to business leaders including advice and support on implementing relevant strategies and action plans, in line with the company’s overall business plan to enhance and drive performance.
  • Provides support to Sodexo legal council on Indigenous Affairs related matters as required.
  • Executes initiatives to improve recruiting, development and retention of Indigenous employees.
  • Supports compliance with regional/national workforce regulations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to Traditional Land Owner (TLO) Groups and Corporations, Communities, Indigenous Chambers of Commerce, and other Indigenous organisations as required. Key focus on WA and QLD.
  • Advancing behavioural change in the organisation, promoting a culture of inclusion and awareness through the development and deployment of communication and awareness materials in Indigenous affairs.
  • Attend relevant meetings, conferences and events as a Sodexo Indigenous Affairs Leader and Ambassador.
  • Forming community/client-facing networks through Indigenous Affairs and Engagement to promote the Sodexo brand externally and support the Sales and client retention efforts.
  • Ensure a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality throughout all areas of work.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in the same/similar role within the private sector, ideally in the resources industry.
  • Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of Indigenous Affairs programs across complex, matrixed and global organisations that achieving organisational step change improvements in Indigenous employment, connection and engagement.
  • High level ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, communities and organisations.
  • Excellent communication skills being able to contribute to innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Highly developed ability to communicate issues clearly and concisely and be relatable to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Proven experience in facilitating successful delivery of Indigenous Affairs programs across complex, matrixed and global organisations.
  • Ability to take initiative and to prioritise work over a range of projects and meet deadlines.
  • High level ability to work in a team environment and collaboratively with other teams across the business
  • Ability to start and to run (in-person and virtual) networks and communities.
  • Strong judgement, integrity and decision-making skills.
  • Strong change management, project management, organisational and financial management skills.
  • Deep understanding and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their cultures and issues affecting them.
  • Ensure a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality throughout all areas of work.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline highly advantageous.
