Role Purpose

The General Manager (GM) Lived Experience and Co-production is a newly created leadership role within

GSANZ that will report to the Executive General Manager, Good Shepherd Institute - Establishment Phase.

The GM will drive and oversee the organisational approach to Lived Experience inclusion, to influence:

  • The strategic direction of GSANZ and our broader ecosystem,
  • Our research and knowledge generation
  • Policy development and advocacy focus
  • Training programs and supporting activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Lived Experience initiatives, activities and targets
  • Ensuring outcomes are both relevant to and bring value to our work with clients, the work of our practitioners and the work we deliver for funders through the Lived Experience lens
  • Using Lived Experience voices and experiences to shape the scope and delivery models of our work, to meet key deliverables and oversee programs that embed co-design principles and participatory approaches
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships and networks with government, corporates, universities, community partners within the Good Shepherd ecosystem, to ensure effective inclusion and participation strategies

About you

  • A tertiary degree, in social science, human services, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in senior leadership and/ or at senior academia level in research, evaluation, policy and/or advocacy roles, preferably within the social and community services sector.
  • A Lived Experience of abuse and a deep understanding of Lived Experience approaches, including advocacy, per work, co-design and workforce development with knowledge of Lived Experience movements.
  • Sound understanding of social services, sector challenges, developments, and policy trends.
  • Experience in driving policy and advocacy, utilising multi-disciplinary approaches across diverse sectors and stakeholders
