Remuneration:
Remuneration value up to $514,452 p.a. comprising salary between $9,360.20 p.f. - $9,924.00 (L25-L27) or remuneration value up to $470,780 p.a. comprising salary between $7,827.20 - $9,091.70 p.f. (L18-L24); employer superannuation contribution (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%) is paid for 4 weeks leave, attraction and retention incentive allowance, professional development allowance, professional development leave 3.6 weeks p.a., professional indemnity cover, plus overtime and on-call allowances.

The Department of Medicine is a vibrant, collaborative, and supportive workplace.
The Staff Specialist will be part of a team comprising of physicians with different subspecialties (including endocrinology, respiratory, infectious disease, oncology, neurology, nephrology, acute medicine etc) working in close partnership with Cardiology (who provide 24/7 Primary PCI service), Emergency Medicine (FACEM lead) and Intensive Care (CICM led).
Your opportunity
The dual trained Staff Specialist role will be comprised of 0.5FTE General Medicine and 0.5FTE sub-specialty duties on an alternating fortnightly basis.
- The General Medicine role will include rotating through the Acute Assessment Unit and General Medicine Teams as well as participating in the on-call and weekend roster.
- The sub-specialty role will involve inpatient consultation, outpatient specialty clinics and relevant procedural lists. Close collaboration with specialty peers from other centres will be supported and encouraged.
The Staff Specialist will get to work with a clinical case mix that is broad, challenging and very professionally satisfying.
The position is responsible for assisting the Director in provision of high-quality clinical services as part of the Department of Medicine, education of Medical Staff and Students, Allied Health, interested Community Groups and Nursing Staff. The position will involve active participation in patient safety, audit, research, and service planning activities.
The staff Specialist will be supported by a full team of junior doctors including BPTs, PHOs, RMOs and Interns. There is currently one Advanced Trainee in General Medicine, Oncology and Rehabilitation, with space to add one more General Medicine Advanced Trainee.
