About the role
Council offers a rare opportunity for an experienced, self-motivated Geographic Information Systems Officer to assist the IT team in providing effective mapping and GIS services to all areas of the Council.
In this busy role you will be responsible for performing core geospatial services including data capture, data analysis and management of enterprise and GIS datasets. You will also be responsible for the creation of visually appealing maps that assist in communicating analysis and findings
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualified in Geographic Information Systems or related discipline, or equivalent skills obtained through experience.
- Demonstrated experience in updating and creating GIS map layers.
- Demonstrated experience in producing high quality visually appealing maps.
- Demonstrated understanding of geodatabases and spatial analysis.
- Experience in using GIS software products, preferably ESRI ArcGIS products.
- Knowledge of Local Government operations.
- Demonstrated understanding of NSW Land Titling Legislation, NSW Addressing Guidelines and cadastral information.
- Excellent customer service ethic and a commitment to providing quality service
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to Council’s corporate values.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS products, such as
- Enterprise GIS, Enterprise Geodatabases, GIS Data Modelling, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, Spatial Analysis and ArcGIS Online.
- Experience with GIS Viewer Geocortex Intranet mapping solution.
- Skills and experience in digital 3D modelling, including software such as Sketchup and GeoCirrus 3D modelling portal.
- Knowledge of Authority Local Government Suite of software applications in particular the Property System or equivalent Local Government Council System.
- Knowledge and experience with relational databases (SQL), Python and Arcade
