The Company
Gunn Agri Partners (GAP) provides agricultural investment management services for Australian, North American, and European investors. GAP manages $800M of assets and commitments via:
- Cunningham Cattle Company: Cattle grazing operations in Queensland.
- Faulkner Farming: Cropping and grazing operations focused on regenerative farming practices and management of carbon and biodiversity assets in NSW and SA.
- Wollemi Farms: Permanent crops and water assets in Northern NSW and Qld.
- Wilga Farming: Cropping, operating, and leasing grazing areas and managing natural assets such as carbon and biodiversity.
The Position
The Natural Capital Analyst is a newly created position within the Natural Capital team. We are seeking an Analyst with a passion for sustainable agriculture with experience in Statistics and spatial modelling. This position will support Natural Capital project assessment and implementation at Gunn Agri Partners with an opportunity to have a significant impact on environmental sustainability from on-farm planning and project feasibility assessments to data collection, data analysis, data modelling to project implementation and reporting.
Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Support farm planning and Natural Capital project development (carbon, biodiversity, renewable energy projects) including conducting feasibility assessments against project requirements and business criteria.
- Conducting fieldwork and collecting relevant data.
- Conducting advanced statistical and spatial modelling using a range of techniques including remote sensing supervised and un-supervised classifications.
- Conduct detailed data analysis and modelling using best practice techniques, providing insights to support Natural Capital project implementation and reporting.
- Support farm sustainability reporting including data collection, analysis, and carbon emissions modelling.
- Prepare technical written reports to a high standard.
The Candidate
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Data Science, Spatial Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- Expertise with proven technical capabilities in data analysis, Statistics and spatial modelling using R, ArcGIS or equivalent.
- Experience in carbon project assessment and development including FullCAM modelling and carbon accounting.
- Knowledge and understanding of agricultural production, sustainability practices and business processes.
- High level of attention to detail.
- High level proficiency in the Microsoft office suite.
- Previous experience working in a corporate environment is preferred but not essential.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
- Superior time management and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong team orientation and the ability to work with and through others to achieve results.
- Current driver’s licence and ability to undertake travel and fieldwork throughout Australia.
The role is available to be based at our offices in Orange, Albury or Bondi Junction or consideration will be given to working at home from a regional location, ideally close to our properties located near Adelaide, Tamworth, Armidale, and Inverell. There will be a requirement to travel to the farms and or the support office from time to time.
An attractive salary package will be negotiable with the successful candidate based on experience and qualifications. Flexibility of hours will be offered. The opportunity to undertake further studies will be supported.
