ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for advice, planning and methodology to optimise OPEN PIT, underground, waste dump, and mine infrastructure development. You will provide geotechnical support to ensure the mine development and production activities and all active mine areas remain at an acceptable level of risk from geotechnical hazards to enable the business to meet its long- and short-term targets in terms of production and cost. 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Regular geotechnical inspections of working operations.
• Create and review adherence to Ground Control Management Plans for each operation. 
• Ensure adherence to the Ground Control Management Plan.
• Monitor and manage OPEN PIT and underground access stability.
• Provide geotechnical information to and liaise with other mining and geology personnel to ensure optimal extraction of the ore while conforming with legislated geotechnical requirements.
• Keep operators and staff up to date with ground awareness training.
• Geotechnical assessment of OPEN PIT, underground and dump designs.
• Collection, analysis and reporting of structural pit data and recommend changes where necessary.
• Manage and scope out work for consultants in relation to new pit developments and waste dumps including tailings dam.
• Any other relevant duties as required.

ABOUT YOU

• At least 12 months of Geotechnical Engineer experience (Essential).
• Tertiary Degree and subsequent qualifications relevant to Geotechnical Engineering (Essential).
• Current, unrestricted Western Australian Class “C” Driver’s Licence (Essential).
• Previous experience in an Open-Pit/Cut mining environment (Desirable).
• Experience with geotechnical software, DIPS, UNWEDGE, Map3D, Surpac, and Rockfall Simulation software (Desirable)
