Going from strength to strength and leading the industry with the newest technology and mining practices, they are now looking at the next stage in their development phase and with are looking to appoint a GIS Specialist.
Your new role
Hays is in search of a dedicated and skilled Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing spatial data, generating maps, and crafting GIS applications to meet our operational requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop, interpret, and manage survey data gathered from various platforms such as vessel/USV/AUV/ROV, hydrographic survey, and inspections.
- Assist the environmental team with GIS services and data management (including GIS/CAD charts) to provide necessary technical support and oversight of ESIA.
- Support in validating results and assuring data quality.
- Gather, cleanse, and process data from a variety of sources, using Python or similar tools for thorough analysis.
- Contribute to the creation of maps and other products driven by spatial data related to the environmental aspects of the ESIA.
- Work closely with different teams within the organisation to identify and address data analysis needs, provide guidance on best practices, and find solutions to complex issues.
- Oversee the installation, administration, and training of GIS software.
- Develop and maintain company/project-specific methodologies and charting standards.
- Identify, accept, and implement new GIS technologies, techniques, and practices.
- Provide continuous support to the offshore team for the successful completion of offshore campaigns.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience in a GIS position, ideally having worked in the resources sector. It would be beneficial if you held a Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., geography, geology, environmental science, environmental engineering, oceanography, marine science/ecology, deep-sea ecology, data science) or have the equivalent experience.
