Job Summary
We are seeking a geophysical application analyst to join Geophysical Applications Division of Exploration Applications Services Department. The Geophysical Applications Division (GAD) core responsibilities include support of a large user base in Exploration with wide range of geoscience applications, technologies and solutions spanning the whole upstream spectrum from Exploration to Development. As Oil and Gas exploration in Saudi Arabia has moved to higher levels of complexity and more challenging frontiers, GAD is committed as ever to acquire and develop state of the art technologies and to hire the best-in-class geoscientists to meet the growing energy demand and achieving net zero emissions by 2060 as strategized by the 2030 vision of Saudi Arabia. As a geoscientist working in GAD, you will be involved in developing workflows that integrates multidisciplinary upstream data utilizing mainstream G&G software platforms, such as AspenTech’s Paradigm and Schlumberger’s Omega among multiple other specialized software. You will work closely with exploration and development geophysicists leveraging an in-depth experience in industry-leading Geophysical software to conduct advanced seismic processing, inversion and imaging including rock-physics analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Recommend and conduct studies on extending computing technology into profitable areas of Geophysical Processing and Interpretation technical activities.
Collaborate with Exploration customer representatives to identify opportunities for computer assistance.
Prepare proposals for higher management regarding Geophysical Processing systems projects.
Endorse technical applications with a high degree of operational feasibility.
Initiate and conduct continuous research into advanced systems concepts and latest developments in techniques and applications related to Geophysical Processing systems.
Maintain close liaison with U.S. Company representatives to explore programming systems developed that may benefit This Company.
Participate in technical societies' activities to stay updated on advancements in Geological/Geophysical mapping, modeling, and data display techniques.
Provide advice on internal department work procedures to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Apply best practices to foster a collaborative, disciplined, and well-governed work environment.
Requirements:
Willingness to relocate to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Geosciences, High Performance Computing (HPC), or a related field. An MSc or PhD degree in geosciences is desirable.
Possess extensive recent industry experience working on geoscience projects, studies, and operations.
Demonstrate intensive knowledge in a wide range of geological and geophysical disciplines, including exploration seismic processing, inversion, imaging, rock-physics, and other related disciplines. Specialization in specific sub-disciplines is advantageous.
Have mastery-level knowledge and experience in GPU development, including porting high compute-intensive geophysical algorithms (such as depth migration) onto GPU architecture.
Possess experience with seismic processing applications and High Performance Computing, along with programming skills in C/C++, Fortran, and Python. Additionally, have expertise in GPU acceleration and Unix/Linux background.
Possess knowledge to deal with 2D and 3D seismic data, conducting velocity models, seismic attributes, inversion, spectral decomposition, AVO, AVA, and be well-familiar with quantitative and pre-stack seismic imaging.
