This newly created Director of Manufactruing role in advanced clean technology company with continuous investment in R&D to improve processes, explore other waste streams and extract new metals. This role will oversee plant optimisation and look to replicate these efficencies in a new purpose built overseas facilty.
The Director of Manufacturing will be a key member of the Executive Management team reporting directly to the CEO. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, providing operational and strategic advice, managing cross functional teams and optimising manufacturing and production processes. Your experience and qualifications will support financial performance for the Sydney plant, ensuring they meet or exceed budgetary objectives through a focus on safety, quality, cost, performance, and driving for quarter-over-quarter improvement. With your introduction of lean methodologies and optimisation efficiencies, this plant will be a blueprint to spearhead growth and operational excellence building a new state of the art manufacturing plant in the US.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee plant operations to ensure manufacturing/production efficiency, quality, safety and profitability for the global manufacturing organisation.
- Obtain and maintain industry accreditation and certification allowing the plant(s) to operate continuously .
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and Identify and mitigate potential operational and supply chain risks.
- Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to production schedules.
- Implement best practices for quality control, safety, and sustainability in manufacturing processes.
- Ensure adequate resources (personnel, materials, equipment and training) are provided to meet the company objectives.
- Lead lean implementation and principles ensuring plants and regions are equipped with the tools, training, and resources for implementation.
- Manage and coordinate manufacturing activities across multiple international facilities, ensuring consistency in processes and standards.
- Drive a culture of quality assurance and sustainability in manufacturing, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor key performance indicators related to manufacturing efficiency, quality and safety. Prepare regular reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and management of sound employee relations and safety practices.
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred) with significant equivalent relevant work experience in these fields.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory and quality standards (e.g., ISO, AS9100, R2).
- A senior level of professional experience in manufacturing and senior operational management working in global manufacturing/production.
- Working knowledge and the understanding of clean technologies, processing and processing plant machinery and systems
- Demonstrable record of successfully delivering long-term monitoring of performance, tracking of metrics, and of driving performance improvements to manage an efficient engineering and maintenance operations.
- A demonstrated record of successful leadership and management of teams, promoting diversity and developing an inclusive, high-performing culture.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and confidently at all levels, presenting complex technical issues and concepts in a style appropriate to the audience, and the ability to represent the organisation externally.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence, build trust, shape conversations, and change behaviours through effective relationship.
- Ability to travel globally and has the drive and desire to be part of our mission to be the leaders in recycling green metals.
- Strong experience in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
