Each person’s unique journey of recovery will be supported by mental health drug and alcohol services in a way that fosters hope, purpose and resilience.
MHDA Statement of Intention
The intention of the NSLHD MHDA is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence based practices and collaboration.
The Governance Support Unit Manager:
- Coordinate the development, implementation and progressive evaluation of a Quality and Safety Framework for Mental Health Drug and Alcohol (MHDA).
- Provide leadership and support to the specialist officers in the Governance Support Unit (GSU) and their work plans.
- Ensure that all specialist functions of the GSU are optimally integrated and where appropriate there is cross fertilisation with a very strong focus on consumer safety.
- Lead the GSU in accreditation systems and preparation.
- Ensure that the GSU provides a proactive educational, consultancy and coordination role to the MHDA Directorate and MHDA Sectors / Services when preparing for accreditation.
- Actively liaise with the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Clinical Governance Directorate to ensure alignment of roles and responsibilities.
- Ensure all relevant NSWH, NSLHD and MHDA KPIs and requirements of the roles within this unit are met or exceeded, or in the event there is variance to the KPI that a recovery plan is instituted in a timely manner.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- High level knowledge and demonstrated skills pertaining to quality improvement and risk management principles, the NSWH Patient Safety Program, engagement of the consumer peer workforce, community development and associated practices and systems
- Proven experience in strategic planning, service evaluation and health care standard accreditation processes, e.g. NSQHS
- Ability to both provide leadership and work as part of a team of specialists with demonstrated commitment to a performance based culture that includes accountability, proven financial management skills, change management, risk management, lean principles application and planning
