About the role
It's an exciting time to join Senex with the recent announcement that we plan to invest more than A$1 billion in a major expansion of our Atlas and Roma North natural gas assets.
Reporting to our Government Relations Manager, we have a new opportunity available for a Government Relations & Policy Advisor to join us. As a member of the Government Relations team, this role will directly, and in support of senior management, develop and sustain key relationships with senior government, ministerial and peak body stakeholders in Canberra.
Key to this role will be your ability to establish and maintain strong networks across parliament, government agencies and other industry associations and act on opportunities for collaboration on relevant public policy issues.
Based in Canberra, you will be located remotely from our Head Office in Brisbane as a large part of your role will be to represent Senex's interests in Canberra. This includes attendance at industry forums, networking events and government consultation meetings. You will be someone who is independent and has the ability to work autonomously.
About You
With a comprehensive understanding of Australian politics and government policy process, you will come with substantial experience as a Policy Advisor and be able to demonstrate your research, analytical and problem solving skills. There will be plenty of opportunity to put your excellent written communication skills to use writing material such as public submissions, briefing notes and presentations.
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (Politics/Communication/Law/Economics/Journalism) will be essential for the role as will your strong networking, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills and your ability to work remotely. Your networking game will be so strong that you will join us with a well-developed network across the federal government including bureaucrats, MPs, Ministers and their staff.
