Grader / Excavator Operator – Leading Hand

JB Contracting is a rapidly growing contractor to the Mining and Civil Earthworks Industry across the goldfields of WA and the Pilbara. 2024 shapes to be a big year with multiple new contracts coming online. 

We are seeking experienced Grader / Excavator operators with demonstrable experience and ideally with Multi Combination Truck license, who are looking to take next step in career towards Supervision. Whilst an operator role you will also take the lead on site to ensure we are delivering safely and to client needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise, prepare and organise onsite activities.
• Allocate labour appropriately and assist with rostering.
• Work closely with team to ensure all works are scheduled and allocated on the company schedule.
• Management of all site health and safety requirements including JHA's, permits to work, isolations, risk assessments and key safety requirement to ensure the highest quality work and safety is adhered to at all times.
• Carry out regular routine site inspections to identify and rectify risks.
• Identify, report and record and non-conformances, incidences or near misses as required.

 Candidates will preferably have plant tickets/licenses to support their demonstration of competency in the above equipment, but those candidates with extensive experience operating the above equipment with who are prepared to undergo certification processes are also encouraged to apply.

Applicants who possess multiple plant machinery skills and/or HC/MC Truck license (Road Ranger Gear Box Experience) will be viewed favourably.

The successful candidate(s) will be well organised self starters with strong interpersonal communication skills and an aptitude to learn. You will need to demonstrate a “can do” attitude and be able to pass and maintain Pre Employment Medical checks and Drug and Alcohol tests. 

Key Skills and experience include:

1. Rights to work in Australia
2. National Police Clearance (mandatory)
3. Able to pass Drug and Alcohol tests on an ongoing basis.
4. Minimum HR drivers license (MC preferred)
5. Proven and demonstrable plant operations experience.
6. WA Based employees preferred.

A flexible FIFO roster is offered ex Perth, ideally as a 2:1.
