Succession Ecology is rapidly expanding our passionate, diverse and value-driven Ecology department. We are recruiting at all levels, all of which include fieldwork:
Graduate Ecologists, with relatively little professional consulting experience.
Graduate Ecologists build their capacities through a two-year in-house training program, in which they support consulting projects to achieve key ecological outcomes. In the second year of their training, they lead appropriately sized projects and contribute to complex projects.
Ecologists, with five years of professional consulting experience.
Ecologists develop and lead consulting projects to achieve key ecological outcomes. They are a core part of the passionate and diverse team committed to Succession Ecology’s values. They lead multiple projects and share their skills through mentoring Graduate Ecologists.
Senior Ecologists, with 10 or more years of professional consulting experience.
Senior Ecologists develop and lead complex consulting projects to achieve key ecological outcomes. They write quotes for detailed projects and manage the personnel and budgets of multiple projects. They mentor and supervise Ecologists and Graduate Ecologists, building a passionate and diverse team committed to Succession Ecology’s values.
Selection criteria Graduate Ecologist Ecologist Senior Ecologist Years of experience in the environment industry, preferably in SA. None Five (5) Ten (10) Tertiary qualifications in Ecology or Environmental Science, with an Honours degree preferred. Essential Essential Essential Field survey experience, such as ecological surveying, flora and fauna identification, and data collection. Essential Essential Essential The ability to work independently and as part of a team of professionals. Essential Essential Essential Willingness to travel for fieldwork on trips of up to 7 days. Essential Essential Essential Current driver’s licence and a clean driving record. Essential Essential Essential Written and verbal communication skills, including facility with the Microsoft 365 package. Essential Essential Essential Willingness to work with stakeholders including preparing briefs and presentations. Desired Essential Essential Demonstrable project management skills Desired Essential Essential Experience in ArcGIS Pro and field mapping. Desired Essential Essential Experience in data management Desired Essential Essential Skills in botany, zoology, or other areas of natural history relevant to South Australia. Desired Essential Essential PhD or Masters in Ecology, Environmental Science, or other relevant life-science discipline. Desired Essential Experience with State and Commonwealth regulatory frameworks and policy. Desired Desired Desired Remote First Aid and White card accreditation. Desired Desired Desired Four Wheel Drive experience. Desired Desired Desired Native Vegetation Council accreditation. Desired Desired Demonstrable skills in data analysis and experience in statistical software such as R or Python. Desired Desired Salary range based on experience(plus 11% superannuation) $60,000 – 75,000 p.a. $78,000 – 88,000 p.a. $90,000 – 100,000 p.a.
