Position Summary:
We are looking for a Graduate Designer Engineer who is passionate about ground-up machine design and customisation to join our team at AW Bell Machinery, in Dandenong South.
As a key member of our design team, you will contribute to innovative solutions for our customers, including all aspects of design, from concept and costing, through to manufacturing methods, assembly supervision and final machine testing and documentation.

About you:
We’re looking for someone who lives and breathes mechanical engineering. You are innovative, have a vision and want to be able to bring it to life. You think outside the box and identify solutions to problems, and ideally have some exposure to industrial machine design and manufacturing processes.
You have a thorough understanding of mechanical engineering principals and demonstrated CAD skills, and if it’s in SolidWorks even better. You are familiar with structural designs, hydraulic systems, pneumatics, power transmissions, bearings and the basics of electrical control systems and automation.
About the role:
This role provides a rare opportunity to work across the entire spectrum of machine manufacture from end to end. As a key member of our design team, you will be involved in developing innovative solutions to meet the specific needs of our clients.
Specific duties include:
- designing and developing mechanical and electromechanical products
- developing 3D CAD components and assemblies including drawings
- creating and maintaining bills of materials (BOMs) in our ERP system
- contributing to the manufacture of new products and resolution of issues
- responsible for machine startup, testing and documentation to ensure that the design meets the customers’ expectations and our own high quality standards.
You will further support and collaborate with the customer and other areas of the business, including the sales team, production, delivery and business support. You will further support our customer network, which includes opportunities for international travel.
